In May of 2022, my family and I spontaneously booked a weekend trip to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We unplugged in Sevierville and stayed at the cutest cozy mountain cabin and explored the quaint town of Pigeon Forge.
Cozy Mountain Cabin:
As an upstate New York native, I really was naive to think the Adirondack Mountains would be the most scenic view this small town girl would see... until I moved to Tennessee!
Our Smoky Mountain adventure took place about 2500 ft above sea level at the peak of a mountain top in Sevierville, TN. We rented a cozy mountain cabin and it was breathtaking with mountain views for miles! Warm Cedar wood finishes accompanied by the scent of pine and a rustic fireplace just made me feel that much more at home. And, what's better? It was extremely affordable!
If you asked me what my favorite part about the cabin was, I'd struggle to choose between the pool table conveniently placed in the living room or the steaming hot tub overlooking those beautiful Smoky Mountains on the covered front porch.
This cabin was extremely secluded too! It’s nestled in a small nook with only a few neighbors, presumed to be rented out by guests under the same owners.
If you seek peace and quiet inside a comfortable cozy cabin with a view that looks like it could have been painted by Thomas Kinkade himself, this quick weekend getaway has been planned just for you!
Intentional details of a favorite memory from this adventure:
Waking up early in the morning, wrapping myself in a cozy flannel blanket and perching myself in the rocking chair on the front porch while sipping freshly brewed hot coffee. I can close my eyes and still hear the birds chirping, the squirrels brushing through the leaves and the smell of Nani’s fried bacon cooking on the stove.
Sightseeing highlights worth writing about:
The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge. It's a must! We visited in 2022 and adult admission was $35, Child admission was $15. and let me tell you... every penny is WORTH IT. The museum is HUGE! If you know nothing about the Titanic, you'll leave there as an absolute expert. Now I won't spoil any part of the museum, but If I were to make a suggestion, bring a sweatshirt. Let's just say... you'll live like a guest on that ship for a moment.
Average time to make it from the entrance to the finish point is 3 hours.
The Riverwalk!
If you visit Pigeon Forge, you haven't really until you've had a FREE tasting at Ole Smoky Moonshine at the Riverwalk. I think out of every time I've visited Pigeon Forge, this has been top on my list! They provide 7-8 free samples, and give you a $5 off coupon per each taster, let alone some pretty neat giveaways. If I were to make a suggestion, the banana cream moonshine, and Amaretto Whiskey are to die for.
Not only is Ole Smoky Moonshine shack located at the Riverwalk, but you'll find several souvenir shops, places to eat, and attractions to see. Between street shows, the Ferris wheel and hot spot stores like EarthBound and Coach, I have no doubt there’s something to please every taste.
Favorite place to eat on this adventure:
Joe's Crab Shack - Pigeon Forge, TN. Joe's is located right at the base of the Riverwalk. You literally walk through the front doors to find yourself on Captain Joe's ship. I got the "Snow Crab Bucket '' Old Bay Styled with Butter and a side of steamed clams and let me tell you... best seafood around.

For those that noticed the "Smoky vs Smokey" Mountains spelling... well, that's a topic which has been up for debate for decades! Personally, we love 'Smokey Bear' and Knoxville's 'Smokey the Dog' so it makes us happy to use a spelling that includes the 'e'.
Because of the National Park, 'Smoky Mountains' is more widely accepted so we used that spelling here in the article. But our custom designed bookmark uses 'Smokey Mountains' - because, well... we can!
