🌎 50 States. One Journal. A Snail Mail Adventure Across America.
There’s something powerful about holding a story in your hands.
Not scrolling it.
Not liking it.
Not double tapping it.
Holding it.
That’s why I’m launching something I’ve never done before —
The 50 State Pen Pal Adventure Book Swap.
This project will send two Pen Pal Adventure Books across the United States… one state at a time.
Upon returning, they will contain one handwritten outdoor adventure from every single state.
Fifty stories.
Fifty landscapes.
Fifty humans choosing analog connection.
🌿 What Is the 50 State Pen Pal Adventure Book Swap?
It’s a traveling journal project.
I will begin by adding my favorite Michigan outdoor adventure to the book — something that captures wind, water, trail, and memory.
Then I will mail the book to someone in the next state.
After completing their entry, they will mail it to the next participating state.
💌 Why I Created This
We live in a world of instant sharing.
But there’s something different about:

Holding their story
The Pen Pal Adventure Book was always meant to encourage fresh air, storytelling, and connection.
This 50-state swap takes that idea even further.
It creates:

A reason to write
This is analog over algorithm.
How You Can Participate
Participation is simple:

Email me with your interest and give me your social handle, just one is preferred. This project will be public so make sure you are ok participating prior to emailing. Email me at info@penpaladventurebook.com

I will assign the mailing order.

When the book arrives:

Add your state’s outdoor adventure.

Ensure you add your entry name and social handle.

Mail it to the next participant within the agreed time frame. 30 days maximum.
Only one participant per state will be included.
Spots are limited to 50.
🏕 What Kind of Adventure Should You Add?
Your entry might include:
- A favorite hiking trail
- A lake or ocean memory
- A state park story
- A childhood outdoor tradition
- A hidden scenic overlook
- A meaningful place that shaped you
It does not need to be dramatic. It just needs to be real.
This project is about documenting the everyday beauty of where we live.

When the journal returns home:

And we will simply celebrate that something slow and beautiful traveled across the country safely.
