Imagine picking up a journal at your favorite local shop. You open it and discover a story written by someone you've never met. Maybe they explored a hidden waterfall, watched the sunrise over a quiet lake, wandered through a botanical garden, or simply spent an afternoon noticing the world around them.

Now it's your turn.

You add an adventure of your own, return the book to a participating store, and exchange it for another. Inside your next book, a completely different collection of stories is waiting.

That's the idea behind the Pen Pal Adventure Book Exchange Program—a traveling journal experience designed to bring people together through storytelling, creativity, and real-world adventures.

How Does the Pen Pal Adventure Book Exchange Work?

The concept is simple: Share an adventure. Pass it on. Discover someone else's story.

Here's how to participate:

1. 1. Purchase your first Pen Pal Adventure Book. Your first book is your ticket into the exchange program.

   2. Register your book. Follow the instructions inside to register your book and become part of its journey. Each registered book has its own online tracking page.

   3. Share an adventure. Write about a place you've visited, an experience you've enjoyed, or a moment outdoors that meant something to you. Add photographs, sketches, stickers, or other creative touches if you'd like.

   4. Add your adventure online. Upload a photo, a favorite moment, or a piece of your story to your book's online journey. This allows others to discover where the book has traveled, see the adventures it has inspired, and follow its story as it passes from person to person. (OPTIONAL)

   5. Return and exchange. Bring your book back to a participating store and exchange it for another Pen Pal Adventure Book already in circulation.

   6. Keep the adventure going. Read the stories left by others, add your own, and return the book again when you're ready for a new one. And don't forget to check online to see where your previous book travels next!

Once you're part of the exchange, you don't have to purchase another book each time. You simply exchange one book for another.

Every book becomes a collection of real experiences, shared by people who may never meet but are connected through the pages of stories and creativity.

We're inviting independent retailers to become Pen Pal Adventure Book Exchange Locations.

Scrapbook stores, independent bookstores, gift shops, stationery shops, and other creative retailers are especially wonderful places for this program.

Participating stores purchase their initial books wholesale and offer them for sale to customers who want to begin their adventure.

Once a customer has a registered Pen Pal Adventure Book, they can bring it back to a participating exchange location and trade it for another book in circulation.

The exchange books are not for individual resale. They're there to keep the stories moving.
