There are some business moments that feel bigger than a sale, a new product, or another box checked off the to-do list.
This is one of them.
Pen Pal Adventure Book was featured in the October 2026 issue of Reunion Living!
And what makes this one especially meaningful to me is where it happened.
My daughter-in-law has been part of Pen Pal Adventure Book from the very beginning. She has helped me turn an idea centered around connection, creativity, nature and snail mail into something real.
Reunion Living is the local magazine for the community where she lives in Colorado, and this month it featured a community project she helped bring to life using Pen Pal Adventure Book journals.
A Traveling Journal With Shared Adventure Stories
The idea is beautifully simple.
A Pen Pal Adventure Book is placed in a neighborhood Little Free Library. Someone discovers it, takes it home, and adds a story of their own.
Then they return it to the Little Free Library for the next person to find.
There are no rules about where the journal needs to go or who gets to write in it next. Page by page, it becomes a collection of people and moments that might otherwise never have crossed paths.
The article describes it perfectly:
“No one knows where each journal will travel or how many hands it will turn its pages.”
And I think that's exactly what I love most about it.
This Is What Pen Pal Adventure Book Was Meant to Do
When I started Pen Pal Adventure Book, I wasn't trying to create just another journal.
I wanted to create reasons for people to step away from their screens, notice the world around them, put pen to paper, get outside, make something with their hands and connect with another human being.
Sometimes that connection happens between two pen pals living hundreds of miles apart.
And sometimes it happens between two neighbors who may never even meet.
One person leaves a little piece of themselves on a page, and another person finds it.
That's pretty special.
The article included a line that stopped me in my tracks:
“Sometimes the smallest thing—a handwritten note, a shared memory, a kind word—have the biggest impact on a community.”
Yes.
That.
That is so much of what Pen Pal Adventure Book is about.
And I'm One Proud Mom
There is another reason I'm going to save this magazine forever.
Seeing my daughter standing beside that Little Free Library holding those journals makes me ridiculously proud.
She didn't just help me build this business behind the scenes. She took the heart of the idea and brought it into her own community.
And now somewhere in Reunion, Colorado, these Pen Pal Adventure Books are moving from hand to hand, collecting handwriting, memories, drawings, stories and tiny pieces of people's lives along the way.
Months—or maybe even years—from now, someone could open one of them and find something written by a person they have never met.
Something funny.
Something meaningful.
Something they needed to hear that day.
And it all started with a blank page.
