August 2026 Pen Pal Snail Mail Club Recap | Driftwood along the Harbor

Several years ago, while walking the shoreline at Silver Lake Sand Dunes on Lake Michigan, I came across a weathered piece of driftwood unlike anything I'd ever seen. It almost looked sculpted, as though it had been carved by an artist instead of shaped by years of waves, wind, and sand.

I stopped to take a photograph because I knew I wanted to remember it.

Not because it was perfect.

Because it made me wonder where it had been.

How many storms had it weathered? How many miles had it drifted before finally coming to rest on that quiet stretch of beach?

That photograph (and many like it) became the inspiration for this month's Snail Mail Club.

This month's collection is filled with soft coastal colors, weathered textures, vintage-inspired papers, journaling pieces, and handmade ephemera designed to capture that quiet feeling of standing beside the water.

You can create a handmade greeting card with a tiny coin envelope tucked inside—a place for a gift card, a handwritten note, or a small keepsake to encourage someone beginning a new chapter.

Scroll down for all the ideas to use this month's kit.

Happy journaling & if you know someone who might benefit from some screen-free time and would like to receive happy mail, click here to send them the link so they can join us!

Create a greeting card with a gift card holder on it!

I made cute little journal tags that can be embellished or written on.

I intentionally left off any words from this month's vinyl sticker, giving you an opportunity to put whatever words speak to you on it!

Check out the videos of how all of these were made by visiting me on whatever social platform you prefer!
