RESTORE: A Little Color for the Season Ahead

September's Snail Mail Club theme is RESTORE, and our element this month is the flamingo.
I chose the flamingo for a reason that goes far beyond its fabulous pink feathers.
When flamingos are raising their young, they can actually lose some of that beautiful pink color as their bodies pour nutrients and energy into caring for their babies. Their feathers may become noticeably paler.
But given time, nourishment and rest, their color returns.
And I can't think of a better reminder as we begin to leave summer behind.
Summer has a funny way of filling every available space. Longer days become fuller days. We travel, work, take care of people, tackle projects, make memories and try to squeeze just one more thing into the season.
Sometimes we don't realize how much we've been pouring out until we finally slow down.
RESTORE is an invitation to notice the things that bring a little of your own color back.
This Month's Creative Challenge
One of the creative options inside September's Snail Mail is called Fill Your Cup.
Members received a printable flamingo tea cup along with little paper tea bag tags. The cup becomes a pocket in your journal, and each tea bag tag is a place to write something that restores you.
Maybe it's:
a walk outside
a cup of tea before everyone wakes up
reading
music
time with someone you love
creating something just because you want to
an afternoon with nowhere you need to be
There are no wrong answers.
The idea is simply to begin noticing the small things that refill you.
A Few More Tea Bags for Your Cup
And because sometimes our cups need a little more filling, I've created an extra sheet of printable tea bags as a FREE download. (There are several bag tags in your snail mail but only one tea bag.)
You don't have to wait until you're completely depleted to give something back to yourself.
Maybe restoration happens much more quietly than that.
A walk.
A conversation.
Ten minutes outside.
A good night's sleep.
A cup of something warm.
A moment when nobody needs anything from you.
Little by little, the color comes back.
Here's to finding the things that restore yours. 🦩
