The Word You Carry: A Little Surprise in November’s Snail Mail 🍂

The Word You Carry: A Little Surprise in November’s Snail Mail 🍂

What if you could choose one word to carry with you into your next season?

Something that reminds you of a strength you’ve discovered, a lesson you’ve learned, or a possibility you’re still growing into.

That’s the idea behind The Word You Carry, a little bonus tucked inside November’s GATHER snail mail, which goes out November 1.

What have you gathered this year?

When I started thinking about our November theme, I kept coming back to all the things we collect without realizing it.

A moment of courage. A friendship that helped us through a difficult week. A quiet afternoon outdoors that reminded us how good it feels to slow down. Even an experience we wouldn’t have chosen may have left us with a little more wisdom.

We don’t always stop to recognize these things. We’re busy living, working, caring for others, and figuring out whatever comes next.

But before we turn the page on another year, I wanted to create a small invitation to notice what we’ve gathered—and consider what deserves to come with us.

33 words. 33 meanings. One message for your next season.

For this bonus, I’ve put together a collection of 33 words, each paired with an original, symbolic meaning inspired by nature and our GATHER theme.

These are personal reflections rather than dictionary definitions. Each connects something we see in nature with something we might recognize in ourselves.

Think of an acorn holding possibilities we cannot yet see. Moss making quiet progress. A stone reminding us of what keeps us grounded.

A few of the words in the collection are:

Potential
Like an acorn, you carry possibilities that haven’t yet revealed how extraordinary they might become.

Wisdom
Every experience has left something behind. Carry what you’ve learned rather than the weight of what happened.

Wonder
The world still holds things that can surprise and delight you. Never lose your curiosity.

Which word will find its way to you?

Tucked inside your November snail mail will be one word chosen at random.

I like the idea of opening an envelope and discovering a word you might not have picked for yourself. Maybe its meaning will feel familiar right away. Maybe you’ll need to sit with it for a while.

Your word might bring a particular memory to mind—or help you recognize something about yourself that you haven’t given much thought to.

There’s no right answer to uncover. Just a question to explore:

Why might this be something I need to carry into my next season?

You could write about it in your Pen Pal Adventure Book, tuck it into a journal pocket, or keep it somewhere you’ll see it during the month. You might even take it outdoors and notice where its meaning shows up in the world around you.

A small word worth keeping

My hope is that this little surprise gives you a moment to pause and recognize something worth keeping from your year.

Perhaps you’ve gathered more courage than you thought. Perhaps you’ve found a sense of belonging, learned to welcome rest, or rediscovered your curiosity.

Sometimes a single word helps us name what’s been there all along.

The Word You Carry arrives with November’s GATHER snail mail, going out November 1. If you’d like a little nature, reflection, and creativity delivered to your mailbox, I’d love to have you join us.

I wonder which word you’ll open. 🍂
